Add attachment

CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO lets you automatically add attachments to messages. The attachments are added by the program while the message is being processed by the Exchange Server.

Normally, to send a message with an attachment a user needs to add it manually at the client machine. If you configure and activate the Add attachment action in the program, the program will automatically add the selected attachment (-s) to messages as long as the defined Conditions are met.

This feature might be found useful, e.g. while your company is running a promotion campaign via email and need to add file(-s) to the outgoing mail. By using the Add attachment action, your Marketing department may rest assured that they won't forget to add that vital file while sending mail because it will already be there once they click send mail.

How to configure this action?

To activate this action in a given rule click Add in the Actions tab and select Add attachment (Fig. 1.).

A new Add attachment action will appear in the List of actions while the right pane will show the properties (Fig. 2.).

The location of the attachment(-s) that will be inserted to messages processed by CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO is provided in the properties pane. This can be done in two ways:

  • Attach all files from the folder - by choosing this option, all attachments from a given local folder will be added to a message that meets the defined criteria.
  • Attach files from the following list - this option enables picking individual files to attach them to messages. Please note that you may add as many attachments as you want at once.

Once you define the path to a folder or files, it will appear in the list (Fig. 3.).

Please note that in order for the attachments to be added to sent mail, the Network Service needs to have the read access rights granted to the chosen folders or files. Otherwise, the attachments will not be processed.

Once the above action is added to the rule, all messages that meet the criteria defined in Conditions will have the defined attachments added automatically.
