Installation process

The installation of CodeTwo Public Folders is simple and is performed in two steps:

  1. First, install the Syncing Master on one of the computers in the network - the module does not require any configuration, and its installation is completed in few clicks.
  2. Next, install the The Client Apps of CodeTwo Public Folders on each computer that shares files and Outlook data (if you wish to sync data on a machine with the Syncing Master, you need to install the Client Apps on this machine, too). While installing the Client Apps point to the computer hosting the Syncing Master.

Tip

To quickly test the program's functionality, you do not need to install the Syncing Master at all. You only need to install the Client Apps on one or several computers, and connect to the Demo Syncing Master hosted on our Internet server.

The Demo Syncing Master is publicly accessible and can be used for testing purposes only. Don’t use it to share sensitive and confidential data as it will be visible to users from other organizations connected to the Demo Syncing Master. Processing or storing any personal data in the Demo Syncing Master is strictly prohibited! Be aware that we clear the Demo Syncing Master's database every Friday.

The installation of the Client Apps and the Syncing Master is initiated from the same installer (Fig. 1.). After running the installer, you need to choose which module of the program will be installed on the current machine.

Installation of the Client Apps

Requirements: See Supported platforms and requirements article.

If you do not want to use the Syncing Master hosted on our Internet server to share data between the Client Apps, install the Syncing Master in your local network before you install the Client Apps.

The Client Apps of CodeTwo Public Folders must be installed on each computer that will share the files or / and Microsoft Outlook data. The Client Apps are connected to the Syncing Master in order to automatically synchronize files and Outlook data.

To install the Client Apps onto a computer, download and run the installer of CodeTwo Public Folders. After running the installer, the screen shown in Fig. 1. will display. Click Install Client Apps.

A standard installation program will start in which you are asked to approve the Licensing Agreement and provide the path to the folder on your drive where the Client Apps will be installed.

Next, the information confirming correct installation of the program will display on the first slide of the program's Quick Tour guide. In the 7 following slides, the program's main configuration steps will be shown. The last slide contains a short presentation movie and the Launch Outlook button (Fig. 2.) that lets you launch MS Outlook along the installed CodeTwo Public Folders Client Apps.

Furthermore, thanks to the File Sharing App you will also be able to share folders containing files with other users. However, remember that in order to share data with other users they also need to be equipped in the CodeTwo Public Folders Client Apps.

Info

If you do not have the MS Outlook installed on your computer, during the installation of the program only File Sharing App will be available to install. After the installation is finished, a Quick Tour guide will also be displayed. However, unlike the full installation, the last slide contains the Start Sharing Files button that opens the app's management window.

After the installation of the Client Apps, by default they will use our Demo Syncing Master (hosted on our Internet server) for communication and data synchronization.
