Archiving storages and importing archives

CodeTwo Backup saves the backed-up data in local repositories called storages. For safety reasons, storages can be created only on local disk drives. To avoid storing a lot of unnecessary data locally, and keep storage growth under control, the program includes the option to archive storages on external drives.

Archives are exact copies of the Exchange and SharePoint data backed up in the storage. They are created through the use of archive jobs. There are two types of archive jobs that can be configured in the program: standard archive jobs and PST archive jobs (the latter are available only for Exchange data). Considering the number of limitations that apply to PST archives, we recommend choosing the standard archive job whenever possible.

When needed, an archive can be imported back to the program via an archive import job.
