Licensing

The application is licensed per email address, and the licenses are sold in the license packs. More information on licensing can be found on the pricing site of each product from the Exchange Rules family.

Do I have to renew the license annually?

No. Licenses for the software are perpetual. This means you are not obligated to renew it after 12 months.

Do I have to pay extra for the updates within the same version of the program?

No, updates are available at no additional cost. For example, if you are a paid user of CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2016 version 1.0, you can update the program to version 1.1 and higher. However, at the same time, if the newer 2.x version is released in the future, you will have to pay to upgrade to that version.

How many licenses do I need?

You need to purchase the license pack that will cover all email addresses in your organization who will benefit from the program.

If you have already activated the software with your own key, you can check which email addresses (users) were covered by the defined rules. This information is displayed in the Licenses in use window, available under the License status column in the Server monitor.

Important

Please note that the licenses are assigned to email addresses and not mailboxes in general. Therefore, if you have a mailbox or distribution group with e.g. 3 email addresses assigned and want the program to cover all three addresses, you will need to use 3 licenses instead of one.

Do I need to buy the program for all mailboxes in the organization?

No. You can buy licenses only for selected email addresses in your organization. For example, you can buy a pack of 44 licenses that will cover 44 email addresses used by 37 users/mailboxes.

How many licenses do I need if I have several servers processing mail (multi-server environment)?

The number of licenses you need to purchase is not linked to the number of servers with the Mailbox role in your organization. Therefore, you need to purchase one license pack to include all users in your organization who will benefit from signatures/disclaimers in their messages. Furthermore, as the program must be installed and activated on each Mailbox-role server, please include the information about the installation in multi-server environment while placing your order in the comment box.

Important

If you are installing the program in a multi-server environment, you need to equip each node with CodeTwo Exchange Rules since each node processing messages is treated as a separate machine. Please follow the instructions to properly install the program in a multi-server environment.

Activation procedure

Once an order is completed, the user will receive a license key that will upgrade the program from the demo version to the full version.

Extending licenses packs

If the number of licenses is insufficient to add disclaimers to messages sent by all users, you can purchase a pack extension. If you want to buy additional licenses, please refer to the pricing page of a particular product.
