Importing / exporting settings

The program is equipped with a feature that enables import and export of rules (including import of sample rules). Thanks to this option, you will be able to export rules and import them to any other instance of the program. Additionally, you will also be able to convert settings from any previous version of CodeTwo Exchange Rules family to the newest version and upload sample rules to start working with the program after the installation without the need to create new ones.

Export settings - this option enables exporting all existing rules to a specified location that may be used as a backup or handled over to another instance of the program.
Import settings - this feature allows to import previously exported rules to another instance of the program.
Import previous version settings - if your are updating CodeTwo Exchange Rules from any previous version of the program's family and want to make you use of the old rules, that is what this option is for. Once chosen, the Settings importer window will open enabling import and conversion of the previous rules to the ones supported by the current version of the program.

Important

Note that importing rules to all Administration Panels within the same environment (where the panels are connected to the same service) is unnecessary yet will cause the duplication of rules. Furthermore, once settings are imported to the one particular Administration Panel, they will be instantly propagated to other panels thanks to the real-time replication.

Import sample rules - by using this feature you may upload predefined exemplary rules to your Administration Panel.

Please note that sample rules are not loaded after a fresh installation by default thus you need to upload them manually.

Once you import settings the last thing, you need to do is restarting the Administration Panel. After that the imported rules will be visible on the list of rules.
