The product license key is sold in a pre-paid annual subscription model. The price is based on the number of users whose data you want to back up. One user requires one license, regardless whether you want to back up their mailbox, public folder or SharePoint data they have access to, or all those resources at the same time.
So, if you want to back up specific user mailboxes, you need licenses for all these users. If you want to back up shared resources (such as public folders or SharePoint site collections), you need to have licenses for all users who can access and modify these resources. Technical support and all program updates are included in the subscription price. What does technical support include?

New license / renew license (annual subscription)
To calculate the price, please provide the number of users whose data you want to back up.
The program consumes one license per one backed-up user. So, if you want to back up a user mailbox, this user needs to be licensed. For example, to back up 56 user mailboxes, you need 56 licenses of CodeTwo Backup for Exchange.
Backing up of other types of on-premises Exchange mailboxes (archive, shared, room and equipment) with CodeTwo Backup for Exchange does not require licenses. For more details, see the program's user manual.
Public Folders backup
No matter what kind of data you back up, one backed-up user requires one license. To back up public folders, you need to make sure all users who can create, edit or delete the contents of these public folders are licensed. This means that if a certain public folder can be accessed and modified by e.g. 13 employees, to back it up you need 13 licenses that have to be assigned to these employees. Those licenses allow you to back up these users’ mailbox data as well. The size of public folders’ data does not make any difference.
If all users in your organization are licensed, it automatically means that you can back up all public folders, regardless of their size.
Each user whose SharePoint data you back up requires a license.
To back up a SharePoint site, you need to have a license assigned to each user who can create or modify items on this site. For example, you have a SharePoint site collection called “Sales”, which can be accessed and modified by all members of your Sales team, consisting of 45 users, and an IT team, which consists of 5 users. In this case, to back up this site, you need 50 licenses assigned to all members of your Sales and IT teams. Those licenses allow you to back up these users’ mailbox data as well.
If all users in your organization are licensed, it automatically means that you can back up all SharePoint data (all types of sites), regardless of its size.

The price for additional licenses is exactly the same as the price for new licenses. However, when adding licenses, your original subscription period remains unchanged. For that reason, the price for additional licenses is reduced proportionally to the remaining period of your current subscription.
Free trial version
It is possible to trial the program before purchasing it. The trial version is free and works for 30 days. During the trial period, you can use all backup features but the restore feature is limited to 5 items per folder.
If you would like to be able to restore all items from a limited number of mailboxes during the trial period, contact CodeTwo Customer Service to obtain a special temporary license key.
You can pay for the software by credit/debit card, wire transfer or send us a purchase order. Credit/debit card payments are handled by Braintree (a PayPal service). Submitting your credit card information on CodeTwo's website is safe as our order system uses only TLS encrypted and verified connections to process your payment. CodeTwo does not store your credit card information in any form. CodeTwo is PCI compliant.
