Exclaimer’s support depends on the plan, with phone support only in the Pro and Enterprise plans and no weekend support; their support is spread across multiple branches and priority support is reserved for Enterprise customers. Feature-wise, CodeTwo is similar to Exclaimer’s most expensive Pro plan when it comes to signature management capabilities, but CodeTwo adds automatic email replies and one-click surveys while Exclaimer adds video call custom backgrounds.
The minimum subscription period for Exclaimer is 12 months even if you choose a monthly plan (it’s in their terms). To cancel a subscription, you need to give them a 30-day prior notice in writing. CodeTwo has both yearly and monthly subscriptions, which you can cancel any time.
Exclaimer is backed by private equity investors who hold a majority stake in the company. As is typical with private equity, their goal is to generate a strong return on investment (ROI) – meaning they focus on increasing company value and profitability over time. CodeTwo, on the other hand, is fully bootstrapped and independently owned. For the founders and many members of the CodeTwo team, working on product development and growing the company is a way of life. While profitability supports continued growth, it is not the main driver of what we do.
Both CodeTwo and Exclaimer support full role-based access control (RBAC), allowing IT to delegate permissions to other teams and reduce management time. CodeTwo provides centralized, dedicated access to signature (branding) management and analytics, with separate roles, allowing e.g. Sales and Marketing teams to manage these areas independently, without relying on IT. Exclaimer offers similar functionality but requires separate campaign rules instead of integrating them with signature rules, which can make configuration and ongoing management more complex.
