Winter has come

Winter has come

Winter has come... It does sound like a title of a very popular tune but it concerns the reality. This winter has surprised everybody not only because it came so early but mainly because it was totally unexpected. Most of the city woke up and realized they were going to spend all their way to work drifting on every curve like in a well-known computer game. Fortunately there was no change in the "weather" for CodeTwo. Everybody arrived early, traditionally with disarming smiles, ready to sing Jingle Bells during a morning briefing. Apart from that, it was promising to be a typical day. However, a very interesting creature, made of snow, grapevine stems and an unidentified matter, tapped on the window in the technical support room. We didn't know what to do as it neither wanted food (even though there were some delicious pierogies in the fridge), nor it wanted money. Finally, we decided to give it our footer. I guess it liked it very much, ehh? Is this spring or another winter’s trick?

Is this spring or another winter’s trick?

Today is the first day of spring - at least this is what astronomers say. I believe them since the temperature outside reaches 15 degrees, which is quite hot as for this part of the year. In Poland, the first day of spring is celebrated mainly by school children who play hooky and spend this time in Internet Cafes, parks or at their friends' flats. The remaining part of a youth who don't want to suffer the consequence of being a truant, go to school to drown Marzanna (a frost maiden)! Take it easy.. it's just a dummy which is thrown into a river as a symbol of winter that passes away. The only thing that concerns me is why some people set her to fire before they let her dive? Is it some sort of a new custom borrowed from GTA? Today, our office is empty but only because it's Sunday. I hope everyone from our team is having a whale of time right now - don't burn yourself when flirting with Marzanna! Tomorrow, we're all back, tight and ready to continue our mission.

Winners Take Prizes – IT Competition Finished!

As we mentioned before, CodeTwo was a lead sponsor of an IT competition held by Karkonosze College for students of local secondary schools. The rivalry was intense, but, according to the local media, many participants were trying to devise a grand strategy to take the third place in the competition in order to win Play Station 3.  The second runner-up, Lukasz Siegiet, scooped up the most desired prize - PlayStation 3 and a game gift token - founded by our company.
CodeTwo Sponsors Polish Space Program

CodeTwo Sponsors Polish Space Program

CodeTwo sponsors parts of a spacecraft 'AlfaTwo' designed by Polish Aviation and Space Exploration Agency (PASEA). 'AlfaTwo' is a solar sail propelled using light radiation pressure coming from the Sun. The space ship is to be launched on July 30th 2010 and its final destination is Ceres - a dwarf planet located close to the main asteroid belt. CodeTwo sponsors 'AlfaTwo' sails which are now being meticulously prepared by Zaklady Lniarskie Pawian S.A. in Wykroty (Poland). The sails are crucially important parts of the construction - they will accelerate this UAV to 19 000 km/s and let it reach its target in 71 days.

Sharing documents with CodeTwo Public Folders

This situation must have happened to every person on the planet a number of times: You had been looking for something for 30 minutes; you searched every drawer in your desk, checked the kitchen table, looked literally in every nook and cranny. Then, burning with rage, you started to examine contents of your refrigerator, opened the oven, went out to dig for it in a dumpster. Nothing! Eventually, you returned home downhearted and.. there it was! On top of your desk! Sharing documents with CodeTwo Public Folders is sometimes pretty much the same for our users. Some of them assume that this is going to be so difficult that they don't even think of doing it. Others try to doing it in a way even our software developers aren't aware of. I know what you're thinking right now: "OK smarty-pants! Stop taking the Mickey out of me and tell me how to do it!". Well, the solution is just around the corner and it is as simple as looking for something on your desk first. It is enough if you create an Outlook folder (Mail and Post Items) and then simply drag&drop your files onto it. That's it! No magic needed. Using this method and CodeTwo Public Folders, you can share Office documents, PDF files, MP3, AVI, JPG, ZIP, RAR and many more. Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing

Since this year's winter is giving us a hard time, I decided to take it head-on. My girlfriend, who is an experienced cross-country skier, took me for a trip to Jakuszyce; a small village located close to Czech border in the center of a huge network of cross-country tracks - one of the biggest cross-country skiing centres in Europe. It's hard to believe that it takes just 20 minutes by car from CodeTwo HQ to these magic forests and fields. When we got there I realized I'd forgotten my camera. Anyway.. I wouldn't be able to put it in any of my pockets since my 'sexy', skin-tight outfit would considerably change its aerodynamic properties then. I had to use my phone camera so please forgive me the quality of these pictures.
Disable Outlook signatures remotely

Disable Outlook signatures remotely

A vast number of our users have been asking questions about disabling Outlook signatures that, once CodeTwo Exchange Rules is on board, seem not to be important anymore. If you have thousands of users, asking them to switch Outlook signature off or (God forbid!) doing it alone one-by-one might do more harm than good. However, you can use Group Policy Object, the tool for Exchange server, and disable adding all signatures created in Outlook. Step-by-step guide to disabling Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 signatures for Exchange users can be found in knowledge base in an article entitled: How to disable adding signatures created in Outlook for Exchange users See also: How to disable adding signatures created in OWA for Exchange users
