How to move CodeTwo Out of Office Manager settings to a different machine

This article is meant for users of CodeTwo Out of Office Manager. This software has been discontinued. If you are looking for a way to manage out of office messages for all users in your Exchange organization, try out the Auto respond feature in CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro.

Problem:

You need to move your CodeTwo Out of Office Manager installation somewhere else or make a backup copy of the program's cache files.

Solution:

When CodeTwo Out of Office Manager is installed, cache files are automatically created and stored in the program. These files are necessary to move the software installation to a different machine or keep a backup copy of the current software settings. Be aware, though, that the guidelines below are just a workaround and we are not able to guarantee that this is surely going to work in your environment. The cache files may get corrupted in the process if copied/moved and then restored, and this may result in improper triggering of the previously configured auto responses for some mailboxes.

Follow the steps below to move your current CodeTwo Out of Office settings and cache to another machine:

  1. Copy the files: ExchangeConnection.dat and OofDatabase.dat. These files can be found in the following location, depending on your Windows version:
    • in Windows XP and Vista, the path is:
%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\CodeTwo\Out Of Office Manager Administrator
    • in Windows 7 and newer, the path is:
      %ProgramData%\CodeTwo\Out Of Office Manager Administrator
    • in server operating systems, such as Windows Server 2008 and newer, the path is:
      %ProgramData%\CodeTwo\Out Of Office Manager Administrator
  2. Install CodeTwo Out of Office Manager on a new machine. Make sure that the installation requirements are fulfilled.
  3. Paste the files you copied in step 1 to the same respective location on the new machine.
  4. Run the software's Administration Panel on the new machine and force some changes, e.g. by selecting any defined auto response element, hitting the Edit button and pressing the Submit button afterwards.
  5. Restart the Administration Panel.
  6. Remove the software installation from your old machine.
