1. Why are you discontinuing support for CodeTwo Exchange Rules?

Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft no longer provides security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for these versions. As a result, we can no longer guarantee the same level of service for CodeTwo Exchange Rules products that work on these platforms. However, we released a new product that supports the new Exchange Server Subscription Edition (see FAQ 4).

2. What happens after CodeTwo Exchange Rules (2016/2019/Pro) is no longer supported by CodeTwo?

The product will continue to work (e.g. add email signatures), but it will not be:

3. Can I use CodeTwo Exchange Rules with Exchange SE?

No. CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2016 and 2019 work only with the Exchange version they were designed for. Additionally, using CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro with Exchange Server SE violates § 4 of our EULA.

4. Can you provide more information about the new CodeTwo product?

Here are the key points:

  • The license for CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem is sold as a yearly subscription.
  • The new product remains a fully on-premises solution (installed directly on your server).
  • The new product offers the same range of features as CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro.
  • Migrating from CodeTwo Exchange Rules to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem is as simple as performing an in-place upgrade – customers just need to install the new product over their existing CodeTwo Exchange Rules installation. All rules and settings will be migrated automatically. Learn more
  • All software updates and all-week tech support are included in the subscription price.
  • It is the only CodeTwo signature product that supports Exchange Server SE.
  • All customers with an active support contract for CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2016/2019/Pro are eligible for a free 1-year subscription of the new product. Customers whose support contract has expired can still get their first 1-year subscription with a 30% discount. Learn more
  • We’re committed to providing long-term support for this product, as demonstrated by phasing out the old versions and focusing on the new software.

5. I have a valid support contract until 2026 for CodeTwo Exchange Rules (2016/2019/Pro). Will I receive support until then?

Yes, you will receive support from us until your current contract expires.

Note that you can no longer purchase support for CodeTwo Exchange Rules products.

6. I have a hybrid Exchange environment. Will I need to purchase subscriptions to two CodeTwo signature products to manage email signatures for both cloud and on-premises users?

No. In a hybrid environment (Microsoft 365 + Exchange Server SE), you only need to purchase a subscription to CodeTwo Email Signatures 365. You will get a CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem subscription for the same number of licenses, at no additional cost.

Example:

You have a hybrid Exchange environment with 100 users in the cloud and 400 on-premises (500 users in total). You will need to purchase 400 CodeTwo Email Signatures 365 licenses. That way, you will also get 400 licenses of CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem for free.

However, if you later migrate those 400 on-premises users to the cloud, you will need to buy additional 100 licenses of CodeTwo Email Signatures 365 to cover all 500 users.

7. I want to move to Microsoft 365. Do you offer any signature product for M365?

Yes. CodeTwo Email Signatures 365 is our email signature & branding software for Microsoft 365. You can easily migrate all your on-premises signatures, signature-adding rules and automatic replies to the new product (learn more). CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) users can purchase CodeTwo Email Signatures at a lower price. Contact us to check your discount!

8. Can I migrate all rules and settings from CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem?

Yes. The transition is as quick and easy as a an in-place upgrade. All your existing settings, including rules and signature templates, will be fully supported by CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem. Learn more about the migration process

9. Can I use the new program in a multi-server environment?

Yes. The number of servers in your organization does not affect the program’s licensing – you’ll be able to use a single product license key for CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem to activate the program on multiple servers within the same Active Directory forest.

If you want to use the program in multiple forests, you’ll need to contact us to receive a separate license key.

10. Will I still be able to use CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) after I migrate to the new program?

Your CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) license key will stop working 90 days after you receive a new license key for CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem.

If you want to continue using CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) and use CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem at the same time, instead of migrating, you’ll need to purchase a new subscription to the new product separately. Please note that in this case, you won’t be eligible for a free or discounted subscription.

11. I have a valid support contract for CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro). How many free licenses will I get after migrating to the new product?

You’ll receive the same number of licenses for your free 1-year subscription to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem – whether that’s 25, 100, or 5,000 licenses.

12. Am I eligible for a free 1-year subscription if I use CodeTwo Exchange Rules but not the Pro version?

Yes, as long as you have a valid support contract for one of the following versions of CodeTwo Exchange Rules: 2016, 2019, or Pro.

13. How much will I need to pay for CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem after my free 1-year subscription expires?

You’ll need to pay the standard price based on the number of licenses (mailboxes) you need. You can check the pricing here

14. I don’t have a valid support contract for CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro). Will I have to purchase the subscription at the standard price?

No. Customers whose support contract has expired will still be able to get their first 1-year subscription with a 30% discount if they decide to migrate to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem. Learn more

15. Is there a trial version of CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem?

Yes. A 14-day trial will be available, offering the same features as the full version of the program. Download free trial

16. Where can I download the installation files for CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro)?

You can find both the installation files and links to the documentation in this article.

17. Can I use a CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) license key with the new product?

No, these are two different products. To use CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem, you need to either:

  • Migrate your CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) license to a 1-year subscription to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem (free of charge or at a discounted rate – learn more). In this case, your CodeTwo Exchange Rules (Pro) license key will stop working 90 days after you receive the new license key for the new product.
  • Purchase new 1-year subscription to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem.

Once you receive the license key for CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem, be sure to use it to activate the program.

18. I’m still on Exchange 2016/2019, but I plan to migrate to Exchange SE. Can I migrate to CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem first?

Yes. You can temporarily use the new product with Exchange 2016 or 2019. If you switch to Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) in the future, you’ll still be able to use CodeTwo Email Signatures On-prem. Your existing license key will work on the new server as well.

If you deploy Exchange SE in a different Active Directory (AD) forest, you’ll need to contact us to receive a separate license key.
