How to run the Exchange Sync service under a newly created user
Problem:
You have to run the CodeTwo Exchange Sync service under a newly created user.
Solution:
If the status of the Exchange Sync service is stopped (following a server restart) and the service cannot be started, you will need to follow the steps from this article. This problem might be caused by a lack of appropriate permissions of the user account that was used to run the service. If this happens, a new user account needs to be added to the service in the place of the old user account in order to properly run the service again. Follow these steps to do it:
- Download MFCMAPI from its producer’s website.
- Unpack the archive.
- Run mfcmapi.exe and enter Profile, Show Profiles (Fig. 1.).
- Delete the profile(or profiles) by right-clicking it and selecting Delete Profile.
- Delete the fileC2ExchangeSyncSettings.dat. The file can be found in different locations depending on the software version:
- Any version prior to 2.5.x the path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeTwo\CodeTwo Exchange Sync
- All versions starting 2.5.0 the path is:
C:\ProgramData\CodeTwo\Exchange Sync
- Any version prior to 2.5.x the path is:
- Create a new user on the server. Go to Start, Programs, Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Management Console (creating a new mailbox for this user is also necessary).
- Add the user to the Domain Admins group by entering Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Run the ExchangeSync service under the recently created user profile.
