Images are randomly replaced with other images in Outlook for iOS
Problem:
Images embedded in an email signature or body are replaced with other, random images when you send or receive emails using Outlook for iOS. For example, instead of your company logo, Outlook displays the logo of a company you contacted in the past or that’s included in your current email conversation. However, the images are displayed correctly when you open the same email in the Outlook desktop app or Outlook on the web.
Solution:
This problem relates to the mobile Outlook application for iPhones and iPads and the way in which its cache operates. It is not related to CodeTwo software – this was confirmed by Microsoft.
Microsoft has informed us they released the 4.2532 build for Outlook for iOS to fix this issue. To resolve the problem, update your Outlook app to this version (or later). If the update doesn't help, you can also try the other solutions described below.
Update Outlook app to version 4.2532 or later
Ensure you have the latest version of the Outlook app to resolve the problem on your device. Follow the steps below:
- Go to the App Store.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Look for a pending Outlook update and tap Update to install it on your app.
If your app is up-to-date but the problem persists, try the solutions below.
Clear cache
Since the problem is cache-related, clearing the cache of your Outlook app might help you resolve it. Follow the steps below to do so (the exact names and placement of interface elements can vary slightly depending on your app version):
- Open the Outlook app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-left corner.
- Tap the gear icon (Settings) in the bottom-left corner.
- Pick your email account under the Mail Accounts section.
- Select Restart Account. This will re-sync your mailbox data.
Other solutions
If the solutions above don’t help, try other troubleshooting methods recommended by Microsoft:
- Restart your device – this can resolve temporary cache-related problems.
- Reinstall your Outlook app – this can help with more persistent issues.
Report the problem to Microsoft
If none of the suggested solutions helps, report the problem directly to Microsoft Support.
