Public and Personal Folders Sharing in Outlook
In CodeTwo Public Folders there are two types of folders: public and personal. They can be used to share data between client computers. The first one is a public folder that is not attributed to any of the users and the rights to which are managed by the administrator. Public folders are created in C2PublicFolders tree and they are visible to other users right after creation.
Data can be shared as well, by giving other users access to personal folders. This is done by sharing personal folders. The person who starts sharing his/her personal folder selects the users in the network for whom the data will be visible and specifies the rights related to the actions that can be made on the folder items.
The user who is given access to a personal folder by anyone, will see this folder in 'Other users' shared folders' folder in C2PublicFolders after opening it from the menu.
The ability to share personal folders is a great advantage, as the user does not need to change the way Outlook is used; the work still looks the same. You don't need to change you habits, as the work with the personal calendar, tasks, mail and contacts will not change. You can still use reminders and sync data with the phone or PDA. Outlook now has a much broader range of application as a groupwork tool. Once you start sharing selected folders, other users will be able to create new entries directly in your personal resources. They may be able to view and update your personal contact database, or access you inbox or sent items.
