Remote management
It is possible in CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO to manage the program remotely. Remote Management allows you to configure the program without physical access to Exchange Server. For example, the server installation can be controlled from another non-Exchange server or even a desktop Windows. This means the Administrator can allow the Marketing Department to remotely configure the rules related to an advertising campaign and compose the banners that will be added by the program on the server. It is possible to set specific access rights for individual users for enhanced control of the modifications that can be introduced by non-admin users.

How to configure the access rights on the server

Exchange Rules PRO enables you to set permissions for users who will need to access and modify the program configuration from another machine. This is a very convenient feature as otherwise Exchange admins would need to take complete care of the program administration or allow access to the Exchange Server, which is rarely practised.

In order to configure the rights for other users click the Settings button in the ribbon and go to the Remote Access tab. To enable remote logons the Allow remote connections to this machine must be turned on. You can change the default port of communication. By clicking the Manage access rights button you open the Remote Access Permission window (Fig.8.).

Use the Add user and Add group buttons to configure the access rights for individual AD users or AD groups respectively. To disable a user or group from accessing the server, highlight the object and use the Remove button.

The user or group can be given Full access, by which they can make all possible modifications to the server installation, or Custom access, which enables you to finely select the allowed actions (Fig.9.).

The following actions can be enabled in Custom Access:
  1. User or group of users can create new rules;
  2. User or group of users can import settings from a remote server;
  3. User or group of users can be allowed to see all or selected rules only;
  4. User or group of users can modify visible rules;
  5. User or group of users can delete visible rules.
