Rewrite sender's address
Rewrite sender's address action in CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO is used to automatically change the From fields address of a sender so that emails of multiple people look as if they arrived from the same address e.g. sales@company.com.

How it works

If there are multiple people in the department who send mail on behalf of the same department, it is a good idea to rewrite the From field address in all their emails, so the message looks as if coming from a common general address such as sales@company.com. Consequently, the replies sent by recipients will be automatically addressed to a common email address; multiple people will have access to the correspondence. If you activate the Rewrite sender's address rule, the program will automatically rewrite the senders' addresses in messages that meet specified criteria defined in the conditions (Fig.2.).

To activate this action to the rule, click Add in the Actions tab and select Rewrite sender's address (Fig.3.)

Choose Rewrite sender's address in the Actions tab.

The Rewrite sender's address action will appear in the list of actions while the right pane will show the action properties. In the properties pane you can either configure a simple rewriting of senders' addresses or advanced. By choosing Simple you can define a single email address that will replace all senders' addresses in messages that meet the criteria specified in the Conditions Tab. Click the Select from AD button to choose the target address from Active Directory. (Fig.4.).

By choosing Advanced you can define a whole table of addresses and their new mappings. Click the Add button in order to define a new mapping. In the result box, provide the source email address and the target email address from Active Directory (Fig.6.).

The selected mappings will appear in the list in the properties pane. At the bottom of the properties pane is a checkbox named If the above assignments do not apply, use this address. Select this option if you want to rewrite the addresses of all messages that meet the criteria specified in the Conditions Tab, but for which there are no specified mappings in the table of the properties pane. When the option is selected, choose the address from Active Directory by clicking the Select from AD button (Fig.6.).

After configuring the action in the above manner, the senders' addresses in messages that match the Conditions Tab will be automatically rewritten according to the configured mappings by CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO on the fly.
