Compress attachment
CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO enables automatic compression of attachments that are carried inside email messages. This is a useful feature if you want to attach the file to the message and its size is too large. CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO will automatically compress to reduce the file size and send the message.

How it works

It is a good idea to zip large attachments, such as docx files, before sending messages (Fig.1.). Without CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO each user needs to do it manually before inserting the attachment to the message. If you activate the Compress attachment rule in CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO, the program will compress the attachments in messages that match the defined criteria (Conditions) automatically (Fig.2.).

How to configure this action

To activate this action to the rule, click Add in the Actions tab and select Compress attachment (Fig.3.)

The Compress attachments action will appear in the list of actions while the right pane will show the action properties (Fig.4.).

In the properties pane you can provide the file extensions that you want to exclude from compressing as well as set the attachment file size below which CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO will not compress.

To set the file size provide the digit in megabytes in the Compress attachments that are bigger than… edit field (Fig.5.).

To define a file extension that will not be compressed by the program, click Add and provide the extension in the edit field (Fig.6.). You can remove the extensions by clicking Remove.

After configuring the action in the above manner, the attachment files in messages that match the Conditions Tab will be compressed by CodeTwo Exchange Rules PRO.
