Do I have to renew the license annually?

No. Licenses for the software are perpetual. This means you are not obligated to renew it after 12 months. More, you have the right to update the application with all point upgrades regardless of the date of their release. For example, if you are a paid user of CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2003 3.0, you can upgrade with all installers versioned 3.x. But at the same time, if you like the features of the newer 4.0 version once it is released, you might need to pay for the upgrade.

How many licenses will I need?

You need to take into account the number of users who will benefit from CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2003 functionalities i.e. whose messages will be processed by the program. The number of required licenses may be lower than the total number of mailboxes hosted on the server or the number of accounts in Active Directory. If your organization has 100 users but the program is configured to process mail sent by only 50 of them, it is enough to buy a 50-user license. If you have 400 users hosted on a server, you need to choose a 500-user pack as there is no license pack that includes exactly 400 users.

Do I need to buy the program for all mailboxes in the organization?

No. You can buy licenses only for selected users in the organization. Please read the article How to add signatures only to messages sent by selected users for clarification.

How many licenses are currently in use?

The number of currently used licenses can be checked in the license.log file, located in the installation folder of the program. By default, this will be C:\Program Files\CodeTwo\ExchangeRules\.

How do I buy additional licenses?

If necessary, you can always decide to buy additional licenses i.e. extend license packs. A singular price for each new user will be much lower comparing to the first purchase.

Licensing in multiple server environments

CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2003 is installed on back-end servers. You need to purchase a license pack that will accommodate all users in your organization on all servers who need to use the program. You may choose to buy different license packs depending on your needs. For example, if you have 3 servers hosting 100, 150, 250 user mailboxes respectively, you need to buy a 500-user license pack and while placing the order provide in the comment box the information on how the mailboxes are allocated across the three servers. See sizes of license packs. If you have clusters of servers in your organization, please read below.

Installing in a cluster environment

If you need to install the program in a cluster environment, you need to equip each node with CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2003 since each node is treated as a separate machine. Both in a Passive/Active and Active/Active cluster the program must be installed and activated on both machines separately. You need to purchase only one license pack that will accommodate all users in your organization on all servers who will benefit from signatures/disclaimers in their email messages. While placing your order for a cluster license, include this information in the comment box.

Also, you need to remember that CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2003 must NOT be installed on a shared disk. The program must be installed on a local disk on each node. Should you need help placing your order, please contact CodeTwo Sales for more details. In your message describe your configuration such as the no. of physical servers, arrangement of clusters, and no. of users per each machine.
