The Instant Search feature does not work properly

Problem:

Searching for items in Outlook using the Instant Search feature does not return the expected results.

Solution:

There are 3 ways to fix the Instant Search:

Rebuild the Instant Search catalogue:

  1. Type Indexing Options in the Search box.
  2. The Indexing Options window will open. Choose Microsoft Outlook from the list and click the Advanced button (Fig. 1.).

  1. In the Advanced Options window that opens, go to the Troubleshooting section and click Rebuild (Fig. 2.).

Turn off indexing for Outlook:

You will still be able to search for Outlook items using an older search method that does not make use of indexed data.

  1. Type Indexing Options in the Search box.
  2. The Indexing Options window will open. Choose Microsoft Outlook from the list and click the Modify button ( Fig. 1. above).
  3. The Indexed Locations window will open. Untick Microsoft Outlook from the list (Fig. 3.).

Refresh the local data file (PST)

If issues with Instart Search affect only CodeTwo Public Folders, you will need to refresh the C2PublicFolders.PST file. Detailed instructions on how to do it are available here.
