Error: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted

Problem:

You get the following error message when using CodeTwo software:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Solution:

This error is related to your environment and the way your system manages domain-related queries or tasks. CodeTwo software uses default system-wide AD libraries. The above error can occur when our software attempts to perform read/write operations on your Active Directory, and the system is not able to handle them.

To solve this issue, you need to:

  1. Make sure the account used by your CodeTwo software is within your domain.
  2. Restart the machine on which the CodeTwo program is installed.
  3. Check the configuration of your domain controllers (DCs) and restart them.
  4. If the problem persists, contact your systems administrator and ask them to investigate the issue.
