A service which archives the MS Exchange server data as PST or MSG files.
Archiving data from Microsoft Exchange Server has been a problematic task for a long time. The difficulties with retracing the data of MS Exchange are especially inherent in the case of reinstalling the server software or even the whole operating system. System identifiers (SID) are being changed and it is almost impossible to retrace the data using the standard software like ntbackup.
Another flaw of the standard software is the fact that data is saved in formats which are not being read by the public domain software. In order to read an archive created by ntbackup in BKF format, first you need to retrace the data from that very archive, and this is the aspect causing most of the problems.
Bearing that in mind, we have created a system for archiving the data of MS Exchange server. The system comprises an archiving server software, which is being run in the background as a system service, and a client software, which automatically retraces the data. The server software saves the data in easily read formats - PST or MSG. Both of them can be operated by the standard MS Outlook software.
As opposed to the standard software, this system doesn't cause any problems at data retracing, because it allows the data from an archive to be copied by every version of MS Outlook. The procedure of data retracing can be limited to recreating an archive file in MS Outlook in PST or MSG format, and copying data by drag & drop into the server folders. In case of archiving into MSG format, it is possible to apply a client module in order to automatically retrace data.
