Unblocking CodeTwo Public Folders in Norton Internet Security

If there are any communication problems between the client modules and the server module after installing the CodeTwo Public Folders program and on one (or several) computers Norton Internet Security has been installed, you should make sure if the program is not blocked by the firewall of Norton Internet Security.

You should check if Norton Internet Security does not block either the server module of the CodeTwo Public Folders program or the client module:

Unblocking the server module of CodeTwo Public Folders

In order to unblock the server module of the program in the Norton Internet Security firewall , you should follow the procedure below:

1. On the computer, where the server module of CodeTwo Public Folders is installed, launch Norton Internet Security and select the Norton Internet Security tab. Then scroll the Settings section and at the very bottom click the Internet Security and Firewall Options link:


2. In the left panel in the Personal Firewall section click the Program Control link. A list of programs unblocked by the firewall will be displayed:


3. If the C2PublicFoldersServer program can be found on the list, you need to select the Allow option from the field on the right and press OK.

4. If the program cannot be found on the list, click the Add button and choose the C2PublicFoldersServer.exe file from the program installation directory; the default installation path is C:\Program Files\CodeTwo\C2PublicFoldersServer.

5. The following window will be displayed:


In the window select the Allow option and click on OK.

From this moment the server module of CodeTwo Public Folders will no longer be blocked by the Norton Internet Security firewall. To make sure the modifications will be applied, restart the computer.


Unblocking the client module of CodeTwo Public Folders

Because a client module is run under Microsoft Outlook, its configuration in Norton Internet Security is performed by changing the option of controlling the access of Outlook.

The client module of CodeTwo Public Folders is unblocked the similar way as the server module.

In order to unblock the client module of CodeTwo Public Folders in the Norton Internet Security firewall, you should follow the procedure below:

1. On the computer, where the client module of CodeTwo Public Folders is installed, launch Norton Internet Security and select the Norton Internet Security tab. Then open the Settings section and at the very bottom click the Internet Security and Firewall Options link.


2. In the left panel in the Personal Firewall section click the Program Control link. A list of programs unblocked by the Norton Internet Security firewall will be displayed:


3. On the list select Microsoft Outlook and choose the Allow access option. Confirm your changes by clicking the OK button.

4. If the Outlook client is not on the list, click the Add button and indicate the location of the OUTLOOK.EXE file. Then set its access option to Allow and confirm the changes by clicking OK.

From this moment the server module of the CodeTwo Public Folders program will no longer be blocked by the Norton Internet Security firewall on this computer. To make sure the modifications will be applied, restart the computer.
