Installation Of CodeTwo Exchange Rules

The program is designed for computers hosting Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003 or Small Business Server 2000/2003 responsible for processing mail in an organization. This version of software is NOT compatible with Exchange Server 2007. If you want to manage signatures and disclaimers in Exchange Server 2007, your choice should be CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007.

The program supports Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003 / SBS operating systems.

The installation of the software is very straightforward and will occupy a maximum of 20 seconds. The installer will ask you to accept the licensing agreement and choose the location for the program files. By default, the program is installed to C:\Program Files\CodeTwo\ExchangeRules\. Remember NOT to install the program on a shared or mapped disk. It MUST be installed on a local disk.

The program is automatically activated upon completion of the installation process. The installation does not require server restart.

During the installation the SMTP service is stopped. It is automatically started when the installation is finished.

Upgrading CodeTwo Exchange Rules To 2.0 Version

To upgrade the program, you must follow the same procedure as in the case of the first installation (see section above). While upgrading, the previous version of the program will be uninstalled and automatically in its place, a new version will be installed. All settings from the previous version will be kept.

When the upgrade is complete, you will need to restart your computer.

If you are upgrading an older full version of CodeTwo Exchange Rules with the trial version, the application will revert to the demo version. Each message will contain extra information together with the disclaimer added by CodeTwo Exchange Rules. If these conditions mean you cannot test the program in your environment, please contact our support team in order to obtain information on removal of the ad.

Deployment Of CodeTwo Exchange Rules In Multiple Server Environment

The general rule is to install CodeTwo Exchange Rules on the mail server that is responsible for sending mail outside of the organization.

If the organization has more than one server serving this role, CodeTwo Exchange Rules must be installed on each of the servers so as to make sure that disclaimers/signatures are added to all mail sent externally.

If the mail travels through multiple servers in a row, the program must be installed only on the last server to process mail so that disclaimers/signatures are not added several times.

In a front-end, back-end environment, the program must be installed on the computer serving front-end role.

If you need to install the program in a cluster environment, you need to equip each node with CodeTwo Exchange Rules since each node is treated as a separate machine. Also, you need to remember that CodeTwo Exchange Rules must NOT be installed on a shared disk. The program must be installed on a local disk on each node.
