CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 or CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2010 installed together with Microsoft Exchange 2007 / 2010 handle the rules using Network Service account. It means that the program may not have the access rights to some locations (Administrator's folders) or files. If you save the image from the footer added to the messages by CodeTwo Exchange Rules in that location (with limited access rights), then you may have a problem with access to the file.
Symptoms:
- The disclaimer added by CodeTwo Exchange Rules shows not the image but the red-cross icon only, although the image is included in the template (Fig.1).
- The message with the disclaimer added is displayed with the paper clip icon at the recipient - attachment sign (Fig.2). The disclaimers are added as hidden attachments so they should not be displayed as attachments.
Fig. 1. The image is not displayed properly.
Fig. 2. The paper clip icon should not be visible.
Causes:
- The path to the image leads to Administrator's folder, e.g. Desktop or My Documents (it is not possible to get the image from these locations).
- No access to this file because it has been moved from a forbidden location and the access rights have also been transferred.
- The image is saved beyond the local discs of the computer (e.g. on mapped or network disc).
Solution:
Move the image to a local disc outside the personal Administrator's folders. Then check if the rights are sufficient to provide the user with Network Service permissions for access to the image. To do it, right click on this file, choose Properties, Security tab and add Network Service user to the list (Fig.3) with permission to Read & Execute.
