In One-Way synchronization the target folders will always contain the same items as the source folders. While editing the items in the source folder by users all changes will be reflected in the target folder. The program by default will overwrite all changes made on items in the target folder during synchronization. This means if a user makes a change to target folder items and saves them, the application will initiate a synchronization in which the changed items in the target folder will be replaced with their verbatim copies from the source folder. This is also true when the user removes a previously synchronized item from the target folder. The removed item will be restored from the source folder and copied to the target folder.

In this setup, those items in the target folder that were once synchronized from the source folder are non-modifiable - any change is futile as they will be rebuilt from the original items in the source folder. If a change is necessary it must be made in the source folder.

The user is capable of changing this policy by using the Options button in the Folders Scheduled for Synchronization section (Fig.1).

Fig.1. Options button enables changing the default policy of the application after detecting changes to the once synchronized items.

Click the Options, button to open the One-Way Sync Target Folder Options dialog box shown in Fig. 2.

Fig.2. Dialog box in which you configure the policy in the event changes in once synchronized items in the target folder are detected.

The dialog box includes two options. By checking the top option (Fig. 3) you ensure no change can be made to the items once replicated to the target folders. Each change will initiate a reconstruction of the items from the source folder. Clear this option if you want to allow the user to edit items in the target folders that were once synchronized from the source folder.

Fig.3. The option responsible for restoring the original values of synchronized items if they have been changed in the target folder.

By checking the bottom option (Fig. 4) you ensure the items replicated to the target folder cannot be deleted from it. Each deletion will initiate a reconstruction of the item from its source folder. Clear this option if you want to allow the user to delete once synchronized items from the target folder(s).

By clearing the above options you let the users make changes to the items in the target folders. The changes will be retained only until the original items become changed in the source folder. Then the item in the target folder will be replaced with the copy from the source folder.
