Sync iPhone and iPad with Outlook – now it’s seamless

We wouldn’t be ourselves, if we hadn’t fixed an issue with a 3rd party product and then shared it with the world. Many of our tools was initially created solely for our own needs, tested by us in a live environment as we grew from a small business to what we are now, and then turned into products that many of you use today. So… here we come with another tool for Outlook and iPhone/iPad aficionados.

We’ve heard from our fellow users that the iCloud feature from Apple™, which is meant to synchronize Outlook with iCloud, iPhone, iPad and other iCloud-compatible devices, is a great tool but does not really sync the stuff that you already have in Outlook but creates another set of folders.

To delve into the problem, we started using iCloud Control Panel together with Outlook for our own needs and soon we realized that our Outlook synchronization algorithms can quickly fix the issue. That’s how we came up with this:

CodeTwo Sync for iCloud enables you to automatically synchronize Microsoft Outlook folders with iCloud folders – the rest is in done by iCloud itself. The program will let you seamlessly synchronize Outlook calendar, tasks and contacts with your smartphone. And, as always, it’s easier and faster than you can imagine.

How to create a shared company Inbox in Outlook?

If your company uses a single POP3 email account for receiving general inquiries from customers and business partners, you’d probably like to know how to make it accessible for a larger group of employees via Microsoft Outlook. In this short tutorial I will show you how to create a shared company Inbox in Outlook without investing huge sums of money in servers and costly server-dedicated software. All you need to achieve this goal is the free trial version of CodeTwo Public Folders installed on all machines in your office.

To cut a long story short, CodeTwo Public Folders lets you create public folders in the Outlook folder tree that can be easily accessed by your office-mates from other PCs. It also allows sharing private Outlook folders with others and set detailed access rights for all shared items. Today we will cover only a small selection of use cases that this powerful collaboration tool has – a shared company inbox.

To see how to install CodeTwo Public Folders, watch this short video:

If you already have CodeTwo Public Folders installed on all machines in your network, we can move on to configuring the shared inbox.

Step 1

Choose one workstation in the office that will be responsible for receiving mail from your general email address (e.g. info@company.com) and configure an Outlook account on it that will use the general email address.

Download CodeTwo Outlook AutoConfig

If you need any help with configuring a POP3 account in Outlook, you can use a free tool by CodeTwo, CodeTwo Outlook AutoConfig that will do it for you automatically.

Step 2

Ok, that’s it. Now all messages sent to your company’s general email address can be read and processed by all employees in the network, even though they use their individual email accounts in Outlook. All messages received by the PC configured in Step 1 will be synchronized in real time and visible in the common Inbox on all other machines. You can also choose to extend this feature by installing CodeTwo CatMan, the free Outlook category manager that will allow your workmates to assign statuses for messages, e.g. pending, processed etc. For more details watch the CodeTwo CatMan video:

The example described in this article is only one of many team work scenarios that can be applied using CodeTwo Public Folders. For more examples of application see the CodeTwo Public Folders product page.

New version of CodeTwo Attach Unblocker released!

If you are a Microsoft Outlook user you probably know a common problem with blocked attachments that you can neither open, nor save to your hdd.. The most common files of this type are: .exe, .bat, .asp, .url, gadget., .js, .reg etc. Outlook blocks these files automatically due to the security reasons and Microsoft’s strategy aiming to protect Outlook users from virus attacks. Nevertheless, this method is not always convenient and pretty often becomes unacceptable for some people. Unblocking disabled attachments is not an easy thing to do. There are numerous questions in this matter regularly posted by irritated users on social forums and IT blogs. So to save your time spent on digging in manuals and in advanced settings of the program, CodeTwo has created a quick and friendly application that immediately brings you back a control of all attachments coming to your inbox. The tool is called CodeTwo Attach Unblocker and is totally free of charge. The program has been successfully serving Outlook users for the last four years. Now we are happy to show you this handy add-on once again, as it has been improved.

What is new in CodeTwo Attach Unblocker 1.2.4?

Apart from a completely new, ‘refreshed’ user interface, the program is now independent from Outlook and can be launched and running even when Outlook is offline. The installation file automatically checks bit version of your Microsoft Outlook and installs a proper version. We have also eliminated a problem with Windows 2000 installation error.

To define the attachments types that you wish not to be blocked by Outlook anymore, you just need to create your own list by entering file extensions in a proper field (see a picture below). After restarting Outlook all attachments from your list will no longer be blocked and you will be able to open, save or forward them.
