We’ve Had Our Ups and Downs

No, no… It’s not what it looks like. We’re not trying to say goodbye to you – definitely not! Year 2010 comes to an end and it’s simply time to look back what it brought to us. Were these 12 months good for CodeTwo? Lets’ sum things up:

  • We’re still here and our crew became even bigger. It’s not only new employees I’m talking about. Marzena (our Senior Technical Support Specialist) gave birth to a healthy son. Congratulations!:)
  • Simon got married.
  • I didn’t get married.
  • Our programs received a couple of new awards and we’re proud of it.
  • We had new air conditioning installed in our offices but it doesn’t work the way it should. This summer was bloody hot.
  • CodeTwo became a Microsoft Certified Partner and it’s certainly not our last word as far as certification is concerned.
  • Outlook 2010 was released and we quickly made all our programs compatible with it.
  • Our new program, CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro, had its premiere and it was a good occasion for us to drink a lot of beer.
  • Finally, tough winter came really early this year but no – we haven’t had to ski to work so far :)

These are the basic facts but there’s one more thing we would like to score under – the most important one. It definitely wouldn’t be such a great year for CodeTwo if it hadn’t been for you guys! The family of CodeTwo programs users is consistently growing and it’s the fact that gives us the greatest positive reinforcement and motivates to work hard. We would like to thank you for all your commitment in developing our software. All your comments and suggestions are crucial to us, eventually we do all the programs for you.

Happy Holidays!

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we are closed. We will come back to work on Monday but as for now, we would like to wish you a wonderful holiday time and may the forthcoming year 2011 be at least as good for you as the passing one.

Happy Holidays from CodeTwo!

Contest is over – we have 15 winners!

The contest we’ve been talking about for a month has been finished and we have just selected 15 winners who will get CodeTwo Exchange Rules – 100 licenses each! As we promised earlier, we printed all names and added them to a glass ball. It’s actually the one my wife kept a goldfish in some time ago, but it was eaten by a frog. In the memory of this little fish, we also sticked her paper friends to keep us company during the drawing.

We organized the contest together with MSExchange.org. It was a tidbit for all companies using Microsoft Exchange since CodeTwo Exchange Rules enables an amazingly easy administration of email signatures, disclaimers and marketing banners centrally on servers.

See the list of the lucky guys who won the program:

Email filtering and sensitive content protection on Exchange Server

Nowadays, most of us can hardly imagine living without using e-mail. Certainly, electronic mail has replaced traditional mail in many cases, becoming an efficient tool for communication and marketing. We use e-mail every day, starting from personal messages and finishing on purely business-related matters: job applications, subscriptions, reservations, transactions, promotional vouchers, invoices, on-line shopping, etc. A great number of important and confidential information flows from one inbox to another one and we can never be sure of its safety.

Now, let’s imagine a large company, where this number increases along with the series of promotional materials, newsletters, business offers, job enquires, clients complaints, support requests, inter-departments conversations and plain rubbish messages with no value for the company. How can we possibly manage such a mass of information and keep all the messages in order and properly secured?

A smart email filter seems to be a perfect solution for this problem.

Upgrade, update or migration – is there any difference?

Terms: updateupgrade and migration are frequently mixed up by computer users. Some  even believe upgrade and update are the same thing, whereas migration has something to do with animals or people moving from one place to the other. Nothing is more erroneous than this belief as far as IT is concerned.

Update means reinstalling a new version of the same program, provided that there is no point difference in the the version numbers. In other words, it might be installing CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 2 .1 on top of CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2.0.

Upgrade means reinstalling a new version of the program with different point numbers. In other words, it might be installing CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 2.0 on top of CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 1.0. Upgrades are usually payable, but the price is lower than the one you pay for buying the product.

Migration means moving from one product to the other one. It can be moving from CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 2.0 to CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro 1.0. Migrations are also payable and the price of the migration is almost always lower than the cost of the standalone product.

CodeTwo Exchange Sync – Minor Update

CodeTwo Exchange SyncWe have just released a minor update to CodeTwo Exchange Sync, an application enabling automatic synchronization of selected data between Microsoft Exchange Server folders. The program has been upgraded to version 2.1.7 which includes the following changes:

  • Fix: The “Subject modifier” filter has been improved. In some operating systems the modifier worked only during the initial sync.
  • Fix: After upgrading or reinstalling the application the synchronization service did not start properly, even if it was running before the upgrade/reinstall.
  • Fix: No matter what value was set in the “meeting status” filter, filter list said “Not meeting” in all cases.
  • New: MAPI profiles created by the application are now removed when the application is uninstalled, reinstalled and upgraded.

Email auto-responders on Exchange Server

The idea of auto-responders is not new but it turns out most of us don’t know how to use them properly, safely and, first and foremost, how to configure a server (or an email system) to send email auto replies to selected recipients or for particular addresses.
What are email auto-responders?
Email auto-responders are email replies sent automatically by servers when original recipients are unavailable or have to answer thousands of emails every day. Generally, mail auto-responders are created by (or for) people who are very busy and cannot read and write emails, are out of the office, on a holiday leave or no longer work for a given company. Frequently autoresponders are used in customer support or online sales services to instantly reply to all messages sent by clients or potential business partners. These types of auto-responders mainly are used to inform customers that their emails have been received and will be processed and answered anytime soon.
