Email auto-responders on Exchange Server

The idea of auto-responders is not new but it turns out most of us don’t know how to use them properly, safely and, first and foremost, how to configure a server (or an email system) to send email auto replies to selected recipients or for particular addresses.
What are email auto-responders?
Email auto-responders are email replies sent automatically by servers when original recipients are unavailable or have to answer thousands of emails every day. Generally, mail auto-responders are created by (or for) people who are very busy and cannot read and write emails, are out of the office, on a holiday leave or no longer work for a given company. Frequently autoresponders are used in customer support or online sales services to instantly reply to all messages sent by clients or potential business partners. These types of auto-responders mainly are used to inform customers that their emails have been received and will be processed and answered anytime soon.

Outlook 2010 – First Impressions, Short Review

I remember when I first installed Office 95 and admired its features with a smile on my face (just like Doc Brown who discovered time travel) – it was over 15 years ago. I mainly used Word 95 then since I did not need Outlook yet. Comparing it to other applications available at that time, it was simply mind-blowing. A few weeks ago I installed Microsoft Office 2010 together with Outlook 2010. To put it bluntly, I was expecting Office 2010 to be a total swizz – another badly written piece of software and a product for those who need to buy upgrades or else they will have sick headaches.

It installed pretty quickly and I launched the most important application for me – Outlook 2010. My jaw didn’t drop as low as 15 years ago but probably because I’m older now and very unemotional when it comes to trying new things. It is still Outlook and it still does the same things. There are, however, some improvements:

Sharing documents with CodeTwo Public Folders

This situation must have happened to every person on the planet a number of times: You had been looking for something for 30 minutes; you searched every drawer in your desk, checked the kitchen table, looked literally in every nook and cranny. Then, burning with rage, you started to examine contents of your refrigerator, opened the oven, went out to dig for it in a dumpster. Nothing! Eventually, you returned home downhearted and.. there it was! On top of your desk!

Sharing documents with CodeTwo Public Folders is sometimes pretty much the same for our users. Some of them assume that this is going to be so difficult that they don’t even think of doing it. Others try to doing it in a way even our software developers aren’t aware of. I know what you’re thinking right now: “OK smarty-pants! Stop taking the Mickey out of me and tell me how to do it!”.

Well, the solution is just around the corner and it is as simple as looking for something on your desk first. It is enough if you create an Outlook folder (Mail and Post Items) and then simply drag&drop your files onto it. That’s it! No magic needed. Using this method and CodeTwo Public Folders, you can share Office documents, PDF files, MP3, AVI, JPG, ZIP, RAR and many more.
