Disable Outlook signatures remotely

A vast number of our users have been asking questions about disabling Outlook signatures that, once CodeTwo Exchange Rules is on board, seem not to be important anymore. If you have thousands of users, asking them to switch Outlook signature off or (God forbid!) doing it alone one-by-one might do more harm than good.

However, you can use Group Policy Object, the tool for Exchange server, and disable adding all signatures created in Outlook. Step-by-step guide to disabling Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 signatures for Exchange users can be found in knowledge base in an article entitled: How to disable adding signatures created in Outlook for Exchange users

CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 tested compatible with SP2 for Exchange

On 24 Aug 2009 Microsoft released Service Pack 2 to Microsoft Exchange 2007. To view the list of issues that are fixed with the latest service pack 2 click here.

Naturally, following its launch our lab embarked on a testing spree to check the compatibility of our products with the big brother’s application. The tests included CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 v.1.0 and v.2.0 – our flagship product used to manage signatures/disclaimers/branding for Exchange mail. It is our sheer pleasure to announce that no issues have been found to exist between CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 and Exchange Server equipped with Service pack 2.

I encourage all users of v.1.0 of CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 to decide to upgrade and take full advantage of the capabilities of the latest version v.2.0. You can do it now at some attractive prices.

Intelligent signatures in CodeTwo Exchange Rules

Thanks to the advanced settings of CodeTwo Exchange Rules, you can create an ‘intelligent’ signature that will change its form depending on circumstances. For instance, in the first mail that you send, your signature might be highly complex and include as much information as you wish, whereas in the further correspondence your disclaimer might be automatically slimmed down and contain just the necessary information about the sender.

Patch 2.0.2 for CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007

A patch including three fixes for CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 was released on July 10. The patch fixes the following:

  • There was a case of server’s CPU being overloaded by MSExchangeTransport.exe process.
  • It was not possible to insert ‘notes’ and ‘display name’ data fields in Active Directory using the built-in editor.
  • ‘Invalid argument’ error occurred in the administration module when the changes were saved. This was caused by multiple changes in the priority of rules by moving them up and down.

The patch is dedicated only for 2.0 version. During the installation, Exchange Transport service is restarted.

The patch is applied by installing the complete program anew.

CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 – Upgrade

We have launched a patch to CodeTwo Exchange Rules 2007 enabling centralized management of signatures and disclaimers in messages sent via Exchange Server 2007. The new version?s number is 1.0.5.

To install the patch simply download the installer from our website and run the installer. The existing version will automatically upgrade. A restart of the server will not be required but the program will restart the Edge Transport service.

One of the introduced capabilities is support for Windows Server 2008. Another novelty has built into the signature editor. Now, it is possible to remove blank lines that are left after the program pulled data from empty fields in Active Directory ? the functionality known from CodeTwo Exchange Rules for Exchange Server 2000/2003

A major change in the new version is the policy of processing rules for the recipients included in exceptions field (see the image below).
